Cupcake Of The Month – May and TTNBC Blocks 11 and 12 Released…

TTNBC-11

Today’s release is Twas The Night Before Christmas Blocks 11 and 12 and I’m also releasing Cupcake Of The Month – May… Shocking I know that I could be so early on a block not really due before the 15th of May, but May is a very busy month for me, so I’m releasing it today to have it … out of the way I guess you could say. 🙂

Blocks 11 and 12 were actually uploaded Saturday night to Craftsy, but because I don’t like posting on weekends, I simply announced it in the Facebook groups for Seams To Be Sew and decided to post today about the release.

The Cupcake of the Month for May is a free block pattern. I’ve made it available on Continue reading

30 Days Blog Hop From Creatin' In The Sticks

30 Days Blog Hop From Creatin' In The Sticks

Oh Boy, I have been waiting and waiting for this day to arrive on this really fun blog hop that Carla at Creatin In the Sticks has offered up for you in April 2018. It is a huge task to coordinate an event on the web and this one is no different. We were each given a choice of the block we wanted to do, and I chose block 20. I thought, this is so simple, I can whip this out in no time at all… and… to some degree I did… but let me tell you all about it.

First, I had to come up with something I like, now I didn’t care for the butting up of the same block over and over again with this block, it’s just not in me to want to see the same block over and over with what I’m going to say no real design to it. It’s just a bunch of squares if you want me to be honest… Don’t get me wrong, I love doing easy quilts, squares are as easy as it gets when you want to make a quilt. I decided right off the bat I was going to find another block to go with it to get more of a design. I played with several…

This is block 20…

Welcome To My Day on the IB Use it Up Hop…

Island Batik Use It Up Blog Hop

Island Batik Use It Up Blog HopToday I’ve chosen to make a small project for this hop. It is a machine embroidery in the hoop design using Island Batiks and fleece.

The design is created entirely in the hoop except for the small buttons and bows you use to attach the add-ons. I didn’t make the addons because I intend to create my own which I just haven’t had the time to do as yet, but the project is done and ready for them to be done, so when I have some time I’ll get them done.

I’ve also created a little tutorial today for you on working with batiks when you applique. This doesn’t apply just to machine embroidery, it applies also to normal applique techniques. I hope you will enjoy it.

When you are working with batik fabric, there are some cool features of the fabric that you don’t get with normal cotton. Continue reading

Island Batik Hop – Use It Up Starts Today

Island Batik Use It Up Blog Hop

Island Batik Use It Up Blog HopI’m so not a fan of not announcing hops that are supposed to take place without any advance notice, but this one has no advance notice to it other than the few mentions I’ve made on my blog about it. Until this morning I didn’t even realize a logo had been made for it. I should have just gone ahead and made my own because to me a post without any pictures at all is boring, boring and more boring. Who wants to read it without something that entices you to read it. Not me. I like pictures. 🙂 So that’s my little rant… a blog hop needs a logo.

This blog hop is for past Island Batik Ambassadors who want to “use up”their leftover fabrics. Continue reading

I’ve been very busy trying to get Sue/Sam ready for release and really didn’t want to post until it was, but I’m realizing that I’m letting time slip by as I try to finish those patterns up. So I am writing today to offer a little free pattern I created for celebrating 5 years of being a blogger.

With another 5 years, I should be able to make it to 1000 posts…
