Stories of Christmas – Announcing The Christmas Caroling Row Along

Christmas Caroling Row AlongThey Say The Third Time Is The Charm… Ever since I started with EQ Seasons in 2015, and last year’s The Road Home Row Along, one of the biggest questions people write me about during the year is when is the next row along going to start. It is very difficult to keep my fingers from typing everything I know about the next one coming, but finally I can tell you, that we have a theme, we have bloggers who are coming back to join the event, and we have you, those of you who look forward to this fun and free event all year long.

Thank you for keeping me wanting to do this year after year, I personally love the row patterns and think they can be used for many projects… Whether you make a table runner, or a shawl, a lap quilt, a bed quilt, door hangers, or even a table cloth, there are some really fun ideas that are brewing for each of the rows coming.

I suppose from the picture you can tell that the theme is Christmas Carols, but the theme is geared more towards the stories of Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, or your own seasonal theme that for most represent the Christmas season. Songs more than anything else, tell us a story of Christmas, or the holiday season you celebrate, Rejoice with us and celebrate by creating a row that tells your story of this holiday season.

We’d love everyone to join us for this fun event, as a visitor, you get to sit back and reap the rewards, as a blogger, you get the fun of having new visitors find you and perhaps start following you when your posting to your own blogs.

Whether you’re new to blogging or don’t even own a blog or website, you can still gain exposure to your own patterns or creations by participating in an event of this type. Thousands of quilters have enjoyed this event over the last two years it’s been held, with last year showing visitors numbering in just over the 350k range. Yes, that’s right, over 350,000 visits to this blog happened over the six-week event last year. If I had that many, other blogs had at least that or near it also.

When you know you are ready to sign up without reading a thing (although, there are deadlines to meet, so you will need to read at some point 🙂 ? Click Here.

If you are just visiting and don’t wish to create a pattern, there is no need to fill out the form to join, just follow one of the participating blogs, and you will receive info in your email or on Facebook each time one of the posts appears in September. You can also join the Seams To Be Sew Updates group as each post will also be announced there each day too. There is also a new Yahoo group which you can join also for announcements.

This event is open to everyone whether you write in inches or metric, we all celebrate this holiday in one way or another and I hope that you will come join us whether you Celebrate Christmas, Hannakah, Kwanzaa, or not.

You need to be someone who can create a .doc or .pdf type pattern. You don’t need to be a pattern designer, but you do need enough knowledge to help you write a pattern you’ve designed yourself. If you wish to participate, but can’t create a pdf pattern, send me a scan of your drawings, your pj7 file, or your quilt pro file and I will create your pattern for you, but you need to have everything written out or typed up, and all images zipped, so it’s easy for me to put the pattern together easily.

Your rough draft pattern must be turned into Marian of Seams To Be Sew by June 10, 2017. It needs to be in good enough shape that someone else could stitch out your pattern. Many of the bloggers who participate are willing to make projects for Show and Tell day with the other patterns, so they need the patterns in enough time to create a project with your rough draft. This is a strict deadline date, if you can’t meet the deadline, you need to email me with a date you can meet, and if you still don’t meet it, I’m sorry to say it, but you will be removed from participating.

Rows this year will be 30-inches wide. (30 1/2-inches wide with seam allowances)

The height requirement can fluctuate between 8-inches and 12-inches. If you are doing a 8 or 9-inch high row, please try to keep your design simple, those pieces can be pretty small.

Your row can be vertical or horizontal.

You are free to use any technique you like, whether it’s applique, embroidery, paper pieced, or normal pieced techniques via cutting shapes with either strip piecing or freezer paper.

You do not need to run a blog in order to participate, but you do need to be willing to write up your post and provide your images and pattern to the person who will sponsor your featured row.

You will need to stitch out your row for your featured day. This can be done over the summer while we all patiently (LOL) wait for the event to start.

There is no restriction about duplicate stories/songs this year.

The PInterest wall for this Row Along is located here. I’m not sure we’ll be doing a Flickr group this year, but there is plenty of time to worry about it.

The logo and linking text file can be downloaded here. Logos must be added to blogs by August 1, 2017.

Sign ups will be taken until April 21, 2017.

The schedule for this hop will be created in the first part of August.

Once your featured day has happened whether it’s at the start of the event or the end, you agree to keep your pattern online free until October 31, 2017. After that, you are free to do as you like with your row pattern.

Additional Blog Hop Guidelines do apply, so if you’re not familiar with how my blog hops normally run, please read the guidelines page here.

It is my job to try and find giveaways, and sponsors for this event, if you would like to sponsor a giveaway, please contact me, everything and anything quilting related is welcome. Even if it’s a crock pot, or coffee…tea… I’m open to anything that makes me spend time in my sewing room and life outside it easier. 🙂

All giveaways will have a code provided by me to the bloggers for them to post on the day they are being featured. This event is too large for bloggers to create their own and try to get the info to me with varied giveaways either coming to my home or sent by the sponsor, it is easier for me to provide you with the code. Your site does not need rafflecopter to have a giveaway on your post, but it does make it easier if it does. Every blogger who participates will have their own giveaway(s) for their post.

If you’re looking for song choices, you can check here what’s copyrighted and what’s in the public domain with this list. It doesn’t cover all of the songs, but it does cover many of the more popular songs.

Returning Bloggers:

The blog name is listed first (when no blog, their name is shown), the theme they have chosen, and the years they have participated in each Row Along.  I’m honored that you’ve chosen to rejoin me this year.

If it notes they are still deciding, it means they have let me know they will be joining in on the fun, and are still deciding on their song or story.
