Using Photos To Create Layouts with Row Patterns In Electric Quilt

October EQ Lesson

October EQ LessonThis lesson is based on the lesson Heidi at Electric Quilt showed us last year. It’s based on the same lesson but is different because it uses photos of rows, with border stripes and panels to show you how to create a simulated layout of what your quilt may look like or the goal to achieve for finishing your quilt.

This lesson was created specifically for the Road Home Row Along, but also in conjunction with my lesson of the month for EQ’s 25th anniversary celebration. Other blogs participating are listed inside the post.

EQ Seasons May Be Over, But It Still Lives On….

EQ Seasons Row Along

EQ Seasons Row AlongI don’t know about you, but the last six weeks has really been an amazing gift.

To bring 19 bloggers together, and thousands of quilters visiting our sites enjoying the patterns and the learning experience with the Electric Quilt tutorials has been a wonderful and joyous delight.

I never dreamed that it would all come together so quickly, and then end just as quick. These weeks have just whizzed right by and before you know it, we’ll be in 2016.

I truly hope you have enjoyed this experience as much as I have, hopefully, you’ve found a few new blogs to follow, left some comments that the bloggers smiled over, and in the end browsed away knowing you had a fun time visiting with us.

EQ Seasons – Week 6 My Week 5

Marian's Preview

Marian's PreviewWell, it’s finally time to wrap up this event, and move on to other things. It has been fun, creative, and overall, a great time. I’ve enjoyed every week of the rows offered by the featured bloggers. The Flickr group has been a blast seeing what ya’ll have done with the rows, and I will be looking forward to your finishes.

I do not have my quilt finished, I have my rows finished, but they are not even on the ends, and I have spent the weekend tearing them apart, coming up with ways to try and fix them.

EQ Seasons – Week 6 – Show N Tell Day

EQ Seasons Row Along

EQ Seasons Row Along

Today is the start of week 6 and the last week for the EQ Seasons Row-A-Long.

It’s been a HUGE pleasure to host this Row-A-Long on my blog. I’ve had the ability to get to know many of the participating bloggers in a way that I never anticipated, they’ve become friends, and I’m proud to know them. They truly deserve all the credit for making this a successful event.

I wish to thank all of you who’ve commented, who’ve sent emails, those of you who have really let us know you’ve enjoyed this event.

I also wish to thank the sponsors, each of whom contributed freely and were generous with their response. You helped make this event a huge success.

EQ Seasons: Week 5 Sue In The Garden .. My 4th Row..

EQ Seasons Row Along

stbs-EQRAL-Sue In The Garden Row 2015

Sue In The Garden

is my 4th and last row of the EQ Seasons Row-A-Long.

Sunbonnet Sue comes from the Electric Quilt library
but the rest of the row is entirely my own artwork.. Who knew I could draw? …. 🙂
I mainly used the shapes in EQ to do this row, it’s a great way to quickly draw, then manipulate the shapes to get what you want in your patterns.

I’m in love with how this row turned out, but I’m thinking that my Sunbonnet Sue’s need some ground cover, like a flower, or some grass.. so I may add them after I finish stitching out the rest of this row.

I did this row mainly in the Raw Edge applique technique, but with a raggy edge, so the stitching is about 1/8-inch inside the applique edge. I didn’t add seam allowances to my shapes, instead I just opted to stitch just inside the edge, then I will brush the edges with a toothbrush to give them a raggy appearance.

Please download your files on a pc/desktop/laptop with Windows or Mac, versus using Mobile Apps/Smart Devices/ipads/kindle… If your pdf doesn’t open, it’s most likely because you’ve used a device to download with that isn’t allowed for that app.

EQ Seasons: Week 4 Fall Harvest .. My 3rd Row..

2015-stbs-EQS-Fall-mine

2015-stbs-EQS-Fall-orig

The above was my original pattern, but it’s not the pattern I am releasing.

I really love cornucopia’s, and I felt that my cornucopia got lost in the middle somewhere. So I redesigned this row last month…

This is the row I am releasing today:

If you don’t see the image below, please try switching browsers. I can’t seem to see it in Opera, but I can see it in other browsers.

As you can see, their isn’t much difference, with the minor difference that I eliminated a block on each side. Every block is still their, I just chose to show them differently.
