2014 March Little Treasures BOM

2014-LT03Can I just say how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this months block. I love it.. simply put. I really went all out on this block this month and created quite a few dimensional effects.

From the double bows, to the hair, the leaf, the tulips and I even used multi-colored threads instead of my normal invisible thread when I applied the shapes to the block.

Today’s notes about this block are pretty short and sweet as I’ve put everything in the pdf file that you need to create this block. However, I left a few things to place on the site as well.

Let’s get to the nitty and the gritty, you want the download.. 🙂 Yes?

The artwork for the Little Treasures BOM is from Graphics and Graphics

All of my patterns are created in Electric Quilt Software

and digitized in Bernina Embroidery Plus Software

Available now on Craftsy for 2.99.

The pdf file will include everything you need to create the block. Some of the tutorials are also on the website such as the How To’s for the machine embroidery, doing the actual dimensional effects in your hoop and additional tips and tricks.

Here are a few images of the creation of the block.

If you use the dimensional techniques for the hair, they will need to be outlined via machine or hand after you turn them inside out.

This is the hooping for the dress and it’s outline.

The face, mushroom and double bows are shown here.

The dimensional leaf is shown here along with the mushroom. The grass in particular is the reason for this image. When your doing the grass to turn under your 1/4-inch, only part of the grass is turned under and it’s important that you know which to turn under and which not. The pdf file shows these parts.

Because I love doing the faces, I just want to note that if you create the dimensional bows whether you do the one set or the dual set, the face and hair shape in particular are in the dimensional templates part of the pdf. Do not use the normal templates for these because they are designed for non-dimensional bows.

This shows the altered hair and face parts with the hair going on in the background to the block.

  4. Marian This quilt just keeps getting better and better! You must have known I am keen to try some dimensional additions to my quilting ;0) I wish I had time to start it at the moment but I will be away from my sewing machine (and my computer!) for most of the month :0( I hope I don’t miss the bonus block as they have all been gorgeous so far! Thanks again for the wonderful quilt along and you will see some pictures of mine as soon as I have a chance to start on it.

  6. Thanks so much for this wonderful BOM. I discovered it by accident a few weeks ago and immediately bought the first block. As I machine embroider as well, this is a wonderful present every month. I just love it and know that I will definitely make one. Trying to finish UFO’s at the moment though.

  7. Hi Marian. Thank you so much for these cute, adorable little girls. I apoligize for not telling you sooner. I just found your blog a couple of months ago through a blog hop and fell in love with these girls. They remind me of Precious Moments. I know there is a lot of work involved in making these and I want you to know that I appreciate it very much. Thank you for reminding us not to take so much for granted. Have a wonderful day!

  8. So sorry that you have not had any comments on your cute little BOM. I have been downloading things, but have not had the time to do them yet. Hope to see some that others are doing. 🙂
