2020 BOTM’s, QAL’s SAL’s and Other Fun Events

MoosestashEach year I bring you this list of events that have been planned out for the new year. Each of these bloggers has created an event that they will feature monthly sometimes weekly on their blog.

Today I have what is the start of those previously announced for 2020 that I have found or been sent an email about.

The requirements to make this list are simple… KIF… keep it free. Your event must be free… no book purchases, no magazines to be purchased, no pattern purchases. The pattern for the block of the event must be free for a long enough period of time to allow people to download it.. This time period is normally a month’s time.

And here is the list…

As a simple note, I do not have supplies, patterns, fabrics or anything for the botms listed below. This page is simply advertising the event the blog or website is having. I provide this to you because I to like block of the month type events and visit them monthly.  You need to visit each site and ask the question of that blog or website holding the event.

(Added February 23, 2020) – Tips:

When I visited Two Sisters this month there seemed to be a problem with the link to month 2 of there botm. I want to show you how I found month 2.

Image 2020 0223 002Oddly enough I normally use menus when I visit sites but they also keep a side menu and there is a direct link to month 2 on the sidebar menu, however, the page will tell you to go to page 1 for the block, but no link to page 1. After using the page 2 backlinks on that page, I decided to try the menu and went to the page via the menu, there I found block 2.

As new events start during the year, I do update this list and I normally post about it. If you know of an event I’ve missed or wish to let me know about an event such as these, please write me here.

This year has some bloggers who haven’t done an event for a while, so it’s very nice to see them come back to entertain us with there artistry, their knowledge, and their fun creations.

Please take the time to comment on their blog posts. A simple thank you goes a long way. Just stopping in and downloading the block is not cool. You can’t imagine the sheer joy it brings that someone took the time to say thank you.

I am an affiliate of the above companies when you click one of these links and purchase something, I earn a little bit of a commission with it. I use this money to help maintain my website and offer my free patterns to you. Every little bit helps, thank you so much for clicking and for your support. I don’t just offer up these brands to you I actually use their products and shop at these places. I would never partner with someone whose products I didn’t use.

Please remember it takes 2 minutes to comment, please say Thank You, whether you downloaded a free pattern, read a tutorial, or just learned something new.  It takes time for people to write a post, take pictures, make a project or even write a pattern.
Let them know you appreciate it.

If your comment doesn’t show up after you post it, it’s most likely gone to the spam folder. I will see it and approve it, unfortunately, it just means something about your email address caught my spam filter’s eye.

  1. Hi Marian, here is one that has already started on Feb 21st and they are through their Facebook page (you have to join to access patterns): The Red Boots Gang – Paper Dolls SewAlong
You will be able to download the files for a full year for free. After that, the pattern will revert to a paid pattern

  2. Thanks for sharing, so nice to be able to find new challenges in one place, you are so generous with your time. Thanks again.

    1. Sadly, you are correct and it has been removed from the list. I made an assumption as Reeze has always had her botm’s as free botms. Thank you for writing to me.

  3. Thank you so much for going to all of this work to make this list each year. Hope this is a Wonderful year for you.

    1. Thank you so much. I look forward to your January post each year. Keeps me from having to search for hours looking for FREE BOM etc. Again, thank you and the best to you in the New Year

  4. Hi Marian,
Good to see you back again. Happy New year and of course a huge thank you for all you do for us.
    Warm hugs,

  5. I definitely look forward to your list every year. I love that you continue to maintain it so well! Thank you!

  6. What a great service, Marian!!! You have rounded up a plethora of free BOMs!!! I’ll be busy all year long!!!

  7. Marian, I believe Southwest Sunrise by Morning Glory Designs is a paid BOM. It wasn’t mentioned on the website or in the newsletter but if you click on the button for patterns that are on sale this month, Block 1 is already listed. The prices state $6 for digital delivery, $8 for paper delivery and $25 dollars for pattern and fabric kit. I really love it so I’ll probably buy it even though I can’t afford to. Just retired and don’t have much extra money.

  8. I have an Awesome Ocean SAL I started in late 2019 and goes until April 2020. I also am due a Tips and Tutorials on the 22nd of each month. If either fit in, please link up.

  9. Marian, Lynn again. I was looking at all the sites you have listed for 2020BOM’s. Lots to choose from. I may be in error, but it appears there is a charge of $3.00 a block for the Luminous Dream Seams quilt- a -long.

  10. As always Marian, you are a gem. I really appreciate your work putting all of this info together or us.
