Absent but Here…. Some News, Not All The News…

2020 Patiotic 2 mediumHi Everyone, I know I’ve been a bit absent on the blog for the last month or so. Like many people, I have kept my sewing machine busy making masks. I’ll be honest when I say that I didn’t really think I was going to make any masks at all, but then I got to thinking about how my family is going to need them, Frank’s family, and even a few friends, then I saw a charity that was looking for volunteers, so I went to the task of making masks. I made a few for people who work with Frank and in all made about 50 masks, and let me just say… Gosh, they are time-consuming. Not the sewing part, but just the cutting, marking the pleats, then ironing it all. The sewing took far less time. Of course, there were still the doctor visits and now they’ve set up home care so that I wouldn’t have to go on every other week because it’s so hard for me to get on the base to take Frank to work and pick him up. In fact, I haven’t been able to get on the base at all for the last month or so as they have made it very difficult. I get it tho, they are just trying to protect there own also.

Today I have a fun release for you, a botm announcement, and a blog hop announcement, so let’s get to it…

Fat Cat Patterns Added to BOTM for 2020…

Dog DaysI have been a fan of Sindy at FatCat Patterns for many years now. Each year I look forward to the new block of the month she will be offering. She’s changed how she does things now but a few dollars you can get a full quilt pattern. As you know I don’t advertise paid botm’s on my blog, but today by sheer accident I saw she had started a BOTM in her FB group.

Sindy first offered Dog Days back in 2013. At the time I was just barely back into quilting and was only just finding my way around to the different botms. When this quilt was first Continue reading

My 7th Anniversary … Sue-Sam Release… New QAL…

Sue and Sam In New JerseyIt’s a busy day here in the Pena household… I’ve been planning to release Sue/Sam in New Jersey for several days, but so many things kept getting in my way. Then today, I was writing an email to someone when I had to give her my blog address and I realized today is my 7th year blog anniversary. I’ve owned this domain for 18 years, but as I’ve noted before in various posts that the first 11 years of this domain were related to being a web developer. The last 7 now as a blog.

Its been a really great experience being a blogger, I can still remember the day where I thought blogging was silly back when I was developing websites for others, but I saw how much fun my customers were having and when I decided to get back into quilting it was an easy choice to open a blog and see where it went. I never thought I’d enjoy the experience as much as I have, nor that I’d make such wonderful friends along the way. I know this blog is the reason I’ve made such wonderful friends.

Today I have for you a new Quilt Along and I promise you this isn’t an event you will want to miss, I also have for you, Sue and Sam In New Jersey being released… Continue reading

Two New Awesome BOTMs… Pumpkin Patch and Tuning My Heart…

Block Of The Month 2020Hi Everyone, I’m posting today because my internet was down all day yesterday and drove me nuts trying to get back online. Xfinity couldn’t figure out what was wrong either although they’d been to my neighborhood yesterday morning and had fixed an issue. For me, it turned out to be an internet setting that I needed to change. It was odd, it took me until 5 pm in the afternoon to check my laptop and see if the internet was working on it and it turned out it was. I wish I’d thought to check it earlier in the day but no, it just never occurred to me. Most of the time I sat around waiting and waiting and waiting for Xfinity to call me back. That was annoying. Either or, my apologies to Beatrice, I had told her in an email I’d get this posted for yesterday and then didn’t well couldn’t get it done. So my sincerest apologies Beatrice.

Today when browsing one of my FB groups, I found another botm that has started so I’m posting both here for you on yes, a Saturday but I promise you, Saturday’s are not going to become a regular posting habit for me also. 🙂

Both of these, of course, have also been added to my Block of the Month 2020 page. Continue reading

Spring Cleaning…

DSCN3156I didn’t need to do too much to clean my sewing room. While I’m not a sloppy person I don’t let little things bother me either… I also am not someone who just throws things around, when I’m done working with a project everything gets put back into place when I am working on something it’s stored in a little bin by my machines or cutting areas. I’m currently working on two blocks of the month projects, so those parts are hanging about my sewing and cutting areas.

A few years ago I did a blog post about my sewing room and at the time I loved the design of it, but over time I grew to dislike it intensely. I love sewing in front of my window. I do not know why I just do. Perhaps it’s because it’s contact with the outside world since I am home so much of the time I don’t get a lot of contact outside of this house. Last year we were trying to move over the summer months, we had a home all picked out, and ready were all packed and ready to move and then I found out that our realtor/property manager was pretty much a crook. They took all our money but gave us no keys to move into the new home. We lost not only our money but had to scramble to try and renew the lease where we still currently lived. It was not a fun experience and I hope I am never so gullible again. The only nice thing to come out of it is when I unpacked my sewing room I gave it a new look something I really like much better and feel comfortable working in.

So below is my sewing room.

The Old… Continue reading
