Hi Everyone, I’m posting today because my internet was down all day yesterday and drove me nuts trying to get back online. Xfinity couldn’t figure out what was wrong either although they’d been to my neighborhood yesterday morning and had fixed an issue. For me, it turned out to be an internet setting that I needed to change. It was odd, it took me until 5 pm in the afternoon to check my laptop and see if the internet was working on it and it turned out it was. I wish I’d thought to check it earlier in the day but no, it just never occurred to me. Most of the time I sat around waiting and waiting and waiting for Xfinity to call me back. That was annoying. Either or, my apologies to Beatrice, I had told her in an email I’d get this posted for yesterday and then didn’t well couldn’t get it done. So my sincerest apologies Beatrice.
Today when browsing one of my FB groups, I found another botm that has started so I’m posting both here for you on yes, a Saturday but I promise you, Saturday’s are not going to become a regular posting habit for me also. 🙂
Both of these, of course, have also been added to my Block of the Month 2020 page. Continue reading
I had mentioned in an earlier post that this Sew Along from The Red Boot Quilt Company would be starting soon, but I didn’t know when it was starting only that the theme of it was to be Paper Dolls. It officially started February 21 and thanks to Nan who reminded me it in a comment she left for me.
Paper Dolls is an every two-week release pattern update. There are 35 total blocks in this one and you can download the patterns all year long There are three different download spots on the web available to you. You can join the Facebook group which is the one place you might like to do anyway simply because you can see what others are doing with there blocks and how they are coming along… Lots of inspiration in that group.
Second, The Thermoweb blog. They have always posted The Red Boot Quilt Companies patterns so this is the one place you can always count on them to be at also especially if your not a social media person.
Third, the Red Boot Quilt Company website itself has also created a page for the Paper Dolls Sew Along… On my Around The Web BOTMs page for this blog, I have it listed for this page also.
Each year with sheer anticipation I look forward to various designers and their block of the months. I just know they have planned something special for us that year. I am always saddened when they decide to take a break or stop for a year or so, but I totally get it also. The sheer amount of work that goes into a block of the month for free or for purchase is unbelievable. You can’t even imagine unless you’ve done one for yourself. At the same time, if you’re creating that quilt I know you look forward to getting it pieced or appliqued to go into your planned project so it has to be a let down when the designer is late, such as my current botms.
Today I was doing my normal trip around the web Continue reading
I love my followers, ya’ll are so wonderful about letting me know about new BOTM’s, or events going on the web… it allows me to help share with the rest of you. A Huge Thank You to Marge, she wrote to me yesterday about a new BOTM she found and thought I’d like to post it on my blog.
Each month a free new pattern. This is adorable, a Sunbonnet Sue Christmas botm. I have added it to my botm page for the Around The Web BOTMs. The January block is up and will be up until February 29, 2020. I do not know if the blocks will still be free after February 29, 2020, or not, so be sure you get to there website to download. They have precut kits also available to purchase if you want to make it quick and easy.
A little oops, I forgot to post the url on this post yesterday when I wrote it, so have linked it on the image above.
Since we are now in February, be sure to be on the lookout, most Continue reading
Coming October 1st is my all time favorite event for the year. Please don’t get me wrong, I love Block of the Months, Quilt Alongs, and other fun events that go on thru the year, but the one I’ll call a “temporary” event is the Wooly Block Adventure Event. Since I found out about the Wooly Block Adventure event in 2016, and was actually participating in it during our move back to the states that year I have thoroughly enjoyed this event. I got to do a bit of pay if forward with this event in 2016 when I visited shops to pick up kits for others and then ship the kits to them as they had been so kind as to send me Row by Row experience patterns and kits in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, this event went to an online event. I was ecstatic. I knew at the same time we’d see a huge drop in shops that would participate because they are so against online stuff that they just refuse to participate. I’ve been told this by my own shops here in Colorado Springs. The following year in 2018, there was a large drop in shop participation, I was actually worried we wouldn’t see this event in 2019. Thank goodness, Janet must love this event as much as I love the row along each year because once again we have Wooly Block 2019. This year’s theme is Holiday Celebration and from the blocks they are now showing on the Facebook Wooly Block page, we are in for some absolutely gorgeous blocks.
How does this event work you might ask, Continue reading
Hi Everyone, I’ve added a few new block of the months going on around the web to my 2019 list. I thought you might like to know about them, so really quickly, here they are..
I definitely have my favorite block of the months I look foward to each year and so I was happy to see that Buttermilk Basin and Morning Glory‘s botms had started. You might have missed block 1 from Buttermilk Basin, but block 2 is up and if you like working with wool (you can do them in cotton also) you will want to get to their site and get block 2 downloaded.
Reeze always does her main block for each month and then throws in a bonus block, so be sure you are on her newsletter so you get the coupon code for the bonus block.
The cute Gingerbread Village BOTM from Days filled with Joy is just getting started and is an absolutely adorable embroidery BOTM.
And… At Little Rabbit Quilt Co, Rosie is starting a new BOTM on March 01, if you visit her blog you can already tell this is a BOTM you won’t want to miss as she has some very cute patterns. I’m just getting to know Rosie as she has signed up to do the Row Along this year but I can tell she’s gonna be a great friend already.
These BOTMs are also Continue reading
Happy New Year!! Each year on my blog I feature a list of the block of the months, Quilt Alongs, Sew Alongs, and other various events that happen on other sites each year. I love the block of the months myself and this list helps me to keep track, and I’ve heard from you that it also helps you keep track.
This is the one page on my blog that I do actually update often during the year. It will get updated a lot over the course of this month as new sites are found that are offering a block of the months.
