Hi Everyone, I’ve a little bug going on with my site at the moment, it has to be due to some of the wordpress updates lately. I’m working to try and find it. It seems to affect older pages on this site and not the newer ones tho, but if you try reloading the page you may see it also, it kinda looks like the path to the images. The bug affects all images, so I’ll be testing my plugins over the next few days to see which are current and which aren’t. I’m hoping it’s a simple problem like that and nothing else.
Today I came to my blog to add some edits to the BOTM page for 2019, at least two BOTMs have finished and 4 more are starting or have started and I wanted to get them posted to you today. I realized pretty quickly that my sidebar stuff was gone, all that was there was the search bar, and the social icons, everything else was gone. One of the things about WordPress is that when you even switch a theme, the one backup you should make over everything else you also have to back up is your widgets on your Continue reading
When I signed up for this blog hop it was in my mind to show off the baby blanket I had just finished for my new grand nephew who was born at the end of January. I spent each day working on this quilt for just a little bit of time over the last year or so, and all of the blocks were created entirely in my machine embroidery hoop. Sadly, when I went to take the pictures off the camera today something has happened to the flash card and every file on the card seems to be corrupted… I have most of them on my hard drive thankfully but not the most recent pictures I took so I have no picture of the blanket at the moment. Since the blanket was only shipped yesterday she doesn’t even have it yet to retake a new picture for me, but to me, I want to figure out why the flash card went bad… It’s not that I didn’t know they’d eventually go bad I just don’t know what I did to make that happen and that bothers me the most… Anyway, I can show you a sample as I did take a new picture of the sample block I made and I have other projects I’ve made in the past that do include diamonds…
First a thank you to Carol, who kindly moved me to today when I had an emergency fall on Sunday afternoon and ended up with an overnight stay in the hospital. I’m still quite sore and my headache comes and goes but overall everything else is good. Continue reading
Tis quite funny as I prepared for this hop with my project, I kept thinking Stripes and not Strings, but quite by accident my project fits into both words… A big thanks to Carla for hosting this blog hop theme and I must say I am looking forward to what everyone created.
I once made a striped quilt, back in the 90’s, Jinny Beyer did quite a few lines with border type stripes that became popular to fussy cut your shapes out of and then combine them to create a new look to the print. It was an awesome technique and I did make one of these quilts. I don’t have a picture that I know of for the quilt, I gave the quilt to my mother-in-law and have asked many times for a picture, but it occurred to me today as I was writing this that she has never sent me a picture of that quilt. It is an 8 point star quilt with the insets, and every other square was a blank square that was filled with a quilting design. It was the first quilt I ever hired out for a hand quilter for. It turned out really pretty… So when this blog hop came along I had my mind on that quilt, but I no longer like to go to all that work with the cutting and such, if I’m going to fussy cut I’m going to do it with my cutting machine. 🙂
I love blog hops, they are so much fun and it is a great way for me to see things that people are doing around the web. I try to get to every site during a blog hop so that I can see what everyone is doing. I don’t normally just visit one post for there featured day, but I look thru the last few posts because it’s fun to see what they have been doing and especially sites that I don’t get to very often.
Novelty fabrics have long been a favorite fabric type of mine. See the quilt on the left? It is entirely made of novelty fabrics, every single square fussy cut and placed strategically on a design wall. The only repeated fabric in the quilt is the black small square that separates the dark from the light. Back in the 90’s as they grew very popular, I seriously bought every single one I could get my hands on. One of the shops I frequented in Fredricksburg, Maryland knew I would buy them and always precut a 1/2 yard of fabrics they got in for me. The cool thing about novelty prints is that you can use all of them or fussy cut them to create your project. A few weeks ago I was working on a project with novelty prints in it and it got me to thinking about how I had never participated in a blog hop with novelty prints as the main focus, so with that in mind, this blog hop came about.
Have you made a project out of novelty prints? If so, I’d love you to join me for this blog hop and show yours off. So, here are the guidelines…
I’m always sad on the last day of a blog hop… this one has been really fun seeing the crazy projects, whether you think they are crazy or not, sometimes it’s just the story behind the project that makes it really crazy as we have all seen so far.

As always, these events just seem to pass by so quickly. Its hard to believe that tomorrow will be the last day but so far and I know you might agree with me its’ been great seeing all the craziness happening in our little quilt world here on the net. I love the internet, how else would I ever get to see all the gorgeous quilts and projects that are created by others. Don’t get me wrong I also love quilt shows, but with those you are limited to those who show and don’t see the bigger picture. The internet on the other hand opened us all up to the possibilities of seeing what is happening everywhere. Thus, I love the internet.
