12 Days … Day 4

Mr. MooseJaw

Mr. MooseJawMy apologies to you all, there is no reason my internet should have been down all day yesterday but for some reason it was. I waited up until 3 am this morning for it to come back online steady enough that I could finish this post up but as it wasn’t totally down it was intermittent enough that I had part of the post written and just needed to add the links for the patterns today. Thus I never got that done. I usually write my posts then add the patterns to the carts. That way I can upload the patterns when it’s time and all I have to do is to add the links to the posts. When I’m sitting here falling asleep in my chair, that’s when I know it’s time to go to bed. My connection was so on/off yesterday that every time I went to upload a pattern the upload timed out. I finally just gave up and went to bed. I do not have a secondary connection, no cell phones or mobile devices for me, so there was no way for me to even notify anyone that I was going to be late today. This is the reason I mentioned in last weeks post that sometimes I am late.

So, back to today’s reason for this pattern. 🙂 Do any of you remember a show called Northern Exposure? It was set in Cicely, Alaska and was on during the early 90s. In the opening of the show, there was a Moose who walked across the road. I love that show, my husband and I have always wanted to retire to Alaska. 🙂

12 Days of Snow – Day 3

Continuous Lines - Winter

Continuous Lines - WinterDo you remember as a child going out in the snow in those fun boots or galoshes? I sure remember the various different boots we wore over the years. From fancy to downright floppy flaps I remember them like it was yesterday.

Today’s free pattern is like receiving 5 patterns in one. The snow boots come in 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12-inch sizes and you’re getting all 5 sizes of the pattern.

I was happy you enjoyed yesterday’s pattern. I thought it was so adorable and I have more penguins to come soon.

So let’s get on inside the post and download today’s free pattern.

12 Days of Snow – Day 2

Mr Penguin Skates

Mr Penguin SkatesI’m so happy that many of you enjoyed the pattern released last Friday.  Thank you also for the birthday wishes, they were also welcomed with a smile.

Today’s pattern features 1 of the 3 animal patterns in the 12 Days of Snow series for 2018. The first being a penguin. I just love these little creatures, they are so cute and adorable. I hope you to will enjoy Mr. Penguin Skates.

There are also several other sites being featured today with events they are running so be sure to stop in on those also.

Calibre Arts is also running a sale again so if you weren’t able to gain a mat during the Halloween hop, perhaps you’d like to try one here for the next eleven days. It will work a little differently with this one so be sure you read the details inside the post.

Creating Snowflakes Out of Fabric

Snowflake Tutorial

Snowflake TutorialAs a child, I remember loving to cut out paper snowflakes. It was a fun project for us to do in school once Winter started arriving. The cool thing was then hanging them all over the classroom and seeing all the different snowflakes that were hanging on the walls and the ceiling. As I grew older I kind of forgot about them until I got married and being strapped for cash our first year I made ornaments for the tree instead of buying them. Back then, Heat n Bond like fusible’s was not even available, or if they were I did not know about them. Instead, I used my sewing machine to stitch the 2 wrong sides together. When you do this technique by sewing machine, you cut your square, and then mark your square in about 1 to 1 1/2-inch increments as a square, then stitch around each of the squares. Depending on the size of the square you cut in the first place, you could have as many as six lines or two or three lines. The cool part is that you had that stitching there which became part of the design. With this technique today you don’t have to use that option, but you could add decorative stitching to your snowflake and we’ll talk about that in the tutorial.

12 Days of … Day 1

12 Days Of-2018

12 Days Of-2018Well, here we are the first day of the 12 Days of … at Seams To Be Sew. I must say it was fun to read your comments from the last post with your guesses. I had some really good chuckles. 🙂

So, today is the day, to find out the theme, grab the first pattern and then come back on Monday for the next pattern to come.

So, let me talk about why I chose the theme I did, and perhaps you’ll understand why it’s so special to me this year.

First, I love Winter. it’s my favorite time of the year. Not because of Christmas, or the New year, or even Valentine’s Day, but because of the snow. I love love love snow. I get very disappointed and discouraged when we’ve had winters without any or very little snow.

As a child, and because when it snowed in Idaho Falls, it wasn’t just an inch of snow and then gone, it lasted for weeks and there were so many fun things to do. I loved shoveling the sidewalk and driveway, I loved making Snow Angels, going tubing, skating, and making Snowmen. So, in my hope for Snow this year… I am hoping for 12 days of Snow.. thus my theme for this year is Snow, the wonderful world of the beautiful white ground cover that comes during Winter. I am optimistic this year, I know we are due for a major snowstorm here in Colorado Springs. 🙂

So, when I said I had left many clues just hanging about, I have, over the years, I’ve mentioned how much I love Winter, and snow, and the logo and the header for 12 days this year more than shows what the theme of this year’s event is. 🙂 Many of you were very close to what it truly is. However, there is more than just snowmen to this theme. 🙂

Coming Friday… 12 Days Of!!!

12 Days Of-2018

12 Days Of-2018Of the many events, I host each year, this one is probably my favorite. This is my 4th year doing the 12 Days event, I’d like to say it was my 5th, but the first year I really only gave away a few patterns at the first week in December. I’d only had my blog open at that time for about 9 months and had very little activity on it at the time. It wasn’t until the following year when I’d participated in many blog hops that I got the idea to do a 12-day event. I can promise you this, it is fun and at the same time by the time it’s almost done with, I’m ready for it to be over. This year will not be any different, but this year also I’m very happy about the theme I’ve chosen for this years 12-Days event. I’ve done trees as a theme (that was my first one), I’ve done ornaments and figures for a combined wallhanging Janeen and I did the second year, last year I did my favorite things for Christmas as a theme. This year I’ve chosen something else that is a favorite of mine, but it doesn’t necessarily have a Christmas theme to it. It goes with Christmas, but it’s not Christmas oriented. 🙂

Can you guess what my theme is this year? I’ve left plenty of clues, maybe you can figure it out before Friday starts and I’d love to hear what you think the theme is.. Please leave me a comment, if you guess it, I’ll answer you back in email… if not I guess you’ll wait till Friday to figure it out. 🙂

12-Days 2014 is the first event I ever held on my blog as an event that was exclusive to my blog, so it will always hold that magical place in my heart.

Other blogs do special things at this time of the year also, I will note them in this post and each day of the event also.

This post is mainly posted to let you know how it works. If you’re new to my blog it will be important for you to read this post.  Continue reading
