A Lesson Learned – Reactivating Electric Quilt

eq7Today I was preparing to be away from my home tomorrow, and was installing EQ 7 on my laptop. It would be my 2nd pc install for the software.

I kept getting an error on my laptop and after trying to install and activate it 3 times, I finally gave up. Thinking what could possibly be the problem…

So I deactivated my EQ 7 install on my main desktop thinking, perhaps that is the problem. So then I tried to reinstall it on my laptop again and still got the same problem…

Who doesn’t love Halloween????

Wicked 3I don’t know to many people who don’t like the holiday known as Halloween. To my knowledge, not many countries celebrate Halloween except for the USA. I’ve always viewed Halloween as part of a fun day that finally lets people be who they really are. While American’s may dress up in silly costumes and decorate there homes like a store decorates for Christmas, it’s the only day I know of where people just let lose and be free.

I’m super excited to be part of the Wicked 3 Blog Hop over at Sew We Quilt. While I haven’t yet come up with what I’ll be doing for this Blog Hop I know that it will be fun, and fantastic to just be part of it. Of course, it will be something quilted, and will probably include a few monsters. Be sure to come and visit all the great sites that will be participating. Once I know my day, I will post it on my blog.

See ya there,

Marian

We’ve said and heard it many times…

National 911 Memorial

But for September 11, 2001, it was a day, we truly will never forget. I don’t believe in the 12 years since that fateful day in New York City, that anyone doesn’t remember where they were, what they were doing, or how they were affected.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families, friends, and special loved ones that we lost that day. While I didn’t lose anyone personally, just the fact that I was at the top of the Word Trade Centers even once in my lifetime brings it home. Never again will I visit there and be able to go to the top of the Towers. Even if you lost noone that day, we all still have that feeling of loss within us for the horror that struck that day.

Best Wishes,

Marian

Little Things Make Me Happy!!

Designer 1 Sewing Machine Foot PedalIt’s funny how life can be so complicated at times, but the end result is that sometimes, little things can make one so happy. I’m sure you’ve guessed by now, my Designer 1 foot has arrived and I couldn’t be happier.

It arrived in it’s new home yesterday, very quietly and I could just hear it shouting, YAY, I have a new home.. I can’t wait to be used. USE ME, USE ME… hehe, so I used it 🙂

We are very happy.

Feeling Naked

Designer 1 Sewing Machine Foot Pedal

Have you ever felt naked? I don’t mean the kind of naked where you’ve just gotten out of the shower and are wrapping the towel around you… I mean.. something’s missing. I’m feeling desperate today, even lonely, sad, naked…

All because I’m waiting on a new sewing machine foot pedal for my Viking Designer 1. It’s the machine I sew on, piece and quilt my projects on. I have my Brother Ult machine, but I only use it for machine embroidery. I don’t like the way it sews and besides, I’ve always heard that if you start a project on one machine you should finish it or try to finish it on the same machine. I guess that’s based on the 1/4″ inch seam allowance quilters need to use.

It should be here in the next day or so, but it’s been almost two weeks now since I ordered it and each day that it doesn’t arrive I feel more and more naked. So, I leave you with that thought today. Keep a backup on hand. 🙂 Can you just imagine? Of course, I have extra light bulbs, I even have a second bobbin case, which I bought to use special threads in, I even buy what I call backup fabric, in case I don’t have enough, I buy a little extra to be sure I won’t run out should I goof up on cutting something out, and if I have leftovers, it’s always good for my favorite type of quilt which is scrap quilts, or even for applique parts.

Club EQ June 2013

2013-06 SeaLife This months Club EQ quilt challenge was Landscape Quilts. Talk about a swirling of ideas. I could have created hundreds of quilts literally, the ideas were so heavily flowing in my mind. It was pretty much anything goes, pieced or appliqued. I finally settled on creating the Sealife quilt you see here. I would have probably done a second quilt, but this one pretty much took up all of my time for the month and I barely got this in on time. Why? Simply because everything in this quilt was drawn or traced by me.

This quilt features over 50 drawn objects. The mermaid alone took over a day to trace. There were objects drawn for this quilt that I couldn’t even fit into it, and at the same time, because I hope to redraw this quilt at some point hopefully featuring a bit more land so I can add some palm trees, or perhaps a lighthouse. I am hoping to create part of the borders with a sky.
