It’s finally that day each year that I look so forward to. Six years now, we’ve held this row along starting on the 2nd Tuesday of September. It makes me so happy that not only do you our followers come along but that we have designers who also want to join in the fun of the row along.
This isn’t an event that has just a few month’s notice for designers to create a pattern. This event starts getting into the planning stages in January each year. A theme is decided, and then signups are announced. The designer then has until June to decide if they are going to meet the deadlines or not. A lot of work goes into the row along, it’s not just me who plans it, but Northcott Fabrics has been a sponsor for the last six years also and five of those years they have provided fabric for the designers to use in there patterns.
A designer isn’t just asked to create a pattern and call it a day, she also has to make the pattern so she is showing an actual sewn project on her featured day.
2020 has certainly had its challenges and it’s definitely been a year I’ll never forget. The great thing is this event is entirely online so I never even gave it a minute’s thought that it should be canceled. Many people asked me if I was going to do so and I would wonder why should I? It’s an online event, something you can sit at home and look at on the device of your choice, whether it’s an iPad, a desktop, or even a laptop or cell phone.
So enjoy the row along, take your time and please remember the designers have worked diligently to provide you with a great pattern. Don’t leave a comment just to enter a giveaway, but leave a comment that’s heartfelt and please say thank you. Today’s designers are:

Today’s Giveaways Are:
You might ask how the row along works? If this is your first time following an online event, what happens is a list of sites are posted on each day of the event. (like the one posted above this paragraph). The days for this event are Tuesdays and Thursdays each week until October 13, 2020. We don’t do this daily because our designers do have other things to do and it’s easier to allow giveaways from sponsors to run a full week along with the pattern downloads. So this event runs for six weeks. Anyway, when you see the list of sites to visit each day, you’ll need to visit those sites to read the post and download the pattern along with entering any giveaways and leaving comments.
You will have to visit the blog in order to download the free patterns. I would encourage you to follow or join the designer’s newsletters, but you shouldn’t have to signup for a newsletter or be asked to follow the site in order to download the pattern. You may be asked to give your information in a cart atmosphere, there is nothing I can do about this, I do this myself with my patterns.
Limits of the row along…
- Designers only have to keep the pattern free for one week from there featured day. They are then free to put it up for sale or do what they wish with it. Many will keep it up freely forever, others for the full event, others will put it up for sale.
- All giveaways from sponsors run for one week only. The giveaway is then drawn for the winner and the winner is notified. Please see this post for further details of the giveaways.
The full schedule is posted here and you can also access by clicking in the sidebar under the row alongs logo for the schedule.
Each day of the row along you can stop by here at Seams To Be Sew. I’ll also be posting the schedule each day.

I am an affiliate of the above companies when you click one of these links and purchase something, I earn a little bit of a commission with it. I use this money to help maintain my website and offer my free patterns to you. Every little bit helps, thank you so much for clicking and for your support. I don’t just offer up these brands to you I actually use their products and shop at these places. I would never partner with someone whose products I didn’t use.
Please remember it takes 2 minutes to comment, please say Thank You, whether you downloaded a free pattern, read a tutorial, or just learned something new. It takes time for people to write a post, take pictures, make a project or even write a pattern.
Let them know you appreciate it.
If your comment doesn’t show up after you post it, it’s most likely gone to the spam folder. I will see it and approve it, unfortunately, it just means something about your email address caught my spam filter’s eye.
