Ok, I’ve spilled the beans, yep, I have at least two rows for the row along this year. This one was created quite by accident. I was trying to think of what to do for my yearly gift for my sisters birthday this year and I happened upon this idea. Her favorite story is my first row for the row along this year. I had already created my first row which I’ll feature next week, so this one is a kind of bonus row.
My sisters favorite story is The Nutcracker and low and behold I found out that it is considered a fairy tale. So it occurred to me that I could create a row for the row along with it and at the same time my sister gets a birthday gift out of it. ssshhhh tho, she knows nothing about it and lucky me, she doesn’t follow my blog. I do not even think she’s ever even visited it, even tho she clearly knows it exists.
Before I send you inside the post to download this row, be sure to enter the giveaways and let me know what you think of this design.

the nutcracker – love your row and thanks for hosting
I did not know that the Nutcracker was considered a fairy tale. I guess I never thought about what it might be, other than a Christmas story. Thank you for the pattern.
Oh my word…what a lovely surprise for us and a special gift for your sister. Good thing she doesn’t follow your blog. 🙂 Thank you so much for all you do.
Thank you for sharing your row. It is a wonderful gift! My children will love it.
The Nutcracker row is awesome!!! I loved that story as a child – I went to the ballet when I was 10 and wanted to be a ballerina for weeks…
I love it, thank you and children will love it as well
Thank you Marian for such a lovely idea for your row.
Yes this blog was about her bonus row for the themed row along. And YES I LOVE this row! Both of my daughters were given the opportunity to dance with the Russian ballet 2 different years in the Nutcracker thanks to some awesome contacts their dance teacher has and as such her studio worked with the Russian ballet company for 2 years when they would come to town to put on their performance. As such it has become a much beloved fairy tale and ballet in our family.
I am enjoying the hop. Thanks for sharing your pattern.
Thank you for directing the Row Along and you very clever Nutcracker Row!
Love it! Thank you so much for sharing it.
No. Fairy Tale and ballet suite but not a nursery rhyme. I love it!
Awesome row. I am going to use it for Christmas. Thank you so much for all you do.
I stumbled upon it quite by accident, but I am so glad that I found this event this year. thank you for hosting it. I am amazed and awestruck by the number of talented quilters and designers that are out there. the Nutcracker is a favorite tale.
Thanks for thinking of the Nutcracker. I love the music and the ballet. The first time I saw it was with the Philadelphia Ballet.
You want us to be honest, so creating charactors from squares is not my first choice although I understand why it is done, it is quick & easy for beginners.
Your row is awesome! I use to collect nut crackers. I saw some rehersal parts of the nutcracker but haven’t seen the whole show. Thanks so much for organizing this Blog hop. It is so much fun and you designers are wonderful.
Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
I do love the ballet of The Nutcracker. These are great designs, and though he isn’t free, the mouse king is my favorite one. Thank you so much for a great row!
Thank you, Marian, for a fun row. No; felt it was more about your sister’s love of this story. She is lucky to have you.

Love your Nutcracker row!!!
Hello Marian. Thank you for the great row. I saw it and thought “I want to have it on my table”. Now I am looking for fabric and hope that I can make it until Christmas time.
It is such a brilliant row – and I feel so lucky to be able to get free patterns from such wonderfully talented people. Thank you very much.
I’m such a fan of your work and your Nutcracker blocks don’t disappoint! Thank for your hard work in both the designs and for hosting the row along!
Marian I love the Nutcracker. When I was a young mother, my sister in law and I would get dressed up with our daughters every December and take them to the Nutcracker. We did this for 12 years, until the girls finished high school and started university. It’s one of my fondest Memories! Thank you for reminding me. Your Row is so special to me and will be in my granddaughter’s Once Upon a Story Quilt when I’m sewing again! Thank you for all your work on this and so many other Hops.
Love the nutcracker! Thanks so much
