Sunbonnet Sue and Sam in West Virginia Released along With Groundhog Day…

Groundhog 2021Hi Everyone, This has been an interesting week. Our week here in Colorado has been filled with snow, and more snow and even more snow. It started last weekend and kept snowing thru Wednesday. You’d think we’d have a couple of feet of snow but alas we don’t. I can say tho it’s the most snow I’ve seen all at once since moving here from Italy 4 years ago, so it was a great week that way for me as you all know how much I LOVE the snow.

However, in Colorado where they are used to having snow, schools still get shut down, businesses close early or don’t open at all, and even doctors take breaks, so I was at home on Monday and Tuesday with no PT… very nice because I’m so tired of PT every day, but I had to make those days up yesterday and today, thus I didn’t get the pattern for Sue and Sam released yesterday and I do apologize, it was ready to release but I was so tired when I got home I chose to just sleep and wait to do it today since I didn’t have a full day of PT either.

Sam is the free pattern for West Virginia…

Images on this page from this point are all clickable links to either download patterns or go to the full pattern pages.

I thought it a bit funny this week that only one person commented on what states they thought the next 2 patterns are, to Sharon A, I’m sorry Hawaii is wrong, and actually, Hawaii was the first pattern to be released in the series.

and since other than Sharon there seemed little interest in what’s next, I’m gonna get a little mean and not tell you which states they were until they are released next week. See, it does make me wonder how many actually read the posts, I know some of you do, but if your here just for a free pattern obviously you don’t… I can tell that just from the downloads of the two free patterns from last week. Some of you must not have looked thru the whole post. Today, you get to see the whole post. :p~

Coming this Tuesday is Groundhog Day, one of my least favorite days of the year because inevitably some groundhog will see its shadow and predict that there are only 6 more weeks of snow to go… :/ But I do love these patterns that I’ve created for Groundhog Day this year. I know they are a bit late, but being somewhat bedridden still, I’ve been organizing old patterns and trying to update them and came upon one of the patterns I created all the way back in 2017.  At the time I offered it as a free pattern, but it is no longer free. I updated it and even added an additional size.

I’ve bundled the 4 patterns into one price to make it easier for those of you who’d like to get the set. The regular price for the bundle would normally be $25.00, but I’ve priced it at a 3 pattern price bundle of $18.50, and when you buy it with the coupon code of GroundhogDay2021 you’ll receive an additional 15% off. The intro price is good thru next Friday, February 5, 2021 The bundle is the only pattern available at the intro price.

As noted previously, Sam is the free pattern this week.
Sam will expire as a free pattern in two weeks on February 13, 2021

The above images are the full patterns. When you add the free pattern to your cart look for the popup window if your purchasing the Sue or the both pattern to receive an additional 10 or 15% discount.

  1. Those groundhog patterns are so cute. I fully understand why Groundhog Day is your least favorite holiday. I’m originally from Pennsylvania where Phil came out every February to tell us he was holding back the warm weather.

Thank you for Sam in West Virginia.

  2. Marian
Thanks so much, darling as usual. I didn’t guess because I didnt have a clue, lol. I always read your posts.
Hoping the PT is going well. Enjoy the snow. The pictures I’ve seen of Woodland Park are amazing. Very cute Groundhogs too

  3. Io leggo sempre tutto, ma è anche vero che non sempre lascio un commento, almeno per ringraziarti. Hai ragione scusa……

  4. Thank you for yet another gorgeous block Marian. I love seeing your various Sue and Sam blocks.

Some people maybe just don’t comment. I generally read your whole post, but since I’m from outside the US I don’t always know the various States just by looking at your pattern pictures. For that reason I don’t guess. 🙂

I do love visiting your country though and getting to know more States as we travel various parts each time we visit. Can’t wait for the Covid travel ban to be lifted in order for us to be able to travel again.

Thank you again for the lovely block and look after yourself.

  5. I always read your post on your web site but seldom comment. Everyone who posts says it all. All I can say is the same thing everyone else says. “Thank you”. Stay safe

  6. Marian – I’ve been following you since 2014 with the Purrfect Valentine. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.

  7. Thank you for all your work, I just started collecting the Sam’s and Sue’s, and I think the ground hog blocks are really cute. I will look forward to your next newsletter

  8. I left a thank you but it is not showing up. Don’t know what happened. Sam in WV is really cute. My fingers need to work faster to keep up with you. Hope the PT is really helping you and you are seeing results. I need you to clarify that date that we have to have Sam in WV done and turned in. This post says by March 30 but when I looked at the pattern download it says Feb 28. Just need you to clarify for me. Thanks !

  9. Thanks Marian. I like the Sam in WV block. My fingers are trying to keep up with you. Still am stitching the last one, Sue in Nebraska. She turned out really cute. I need to start putting some of these blocks together into a quilt or two or three. LOL

  10. Hope the PT is helping! I generally look at most every email you send, since you don’t send them every day. I hadn’t found your site yet when you started Sunbonnet Sue & Sam, so I haven’t collected the ones that have been on since I joined your site.
The groundhog days patterns are really cute! We live only a couple of hours from Punxsutawney, where the “official” Punxsutawney Phil makes his entrance each February 2nd. That also happens to be my youngest grandson’s birthday – he turns 5 on Tuesday!!
Thanks for your continued work, even though you don’t feel well. It’s appreciated!! Blessings!

  11. Hallo Marian,

  12. Thank you for the Sam in West Virginia. I did look up if Hawaii was featured and saw that it was featured years ago. It’s my favorite. Just don’t know how to purchase it. I looked at Payhip, it’s not there. Probably because it was before you used Payhip.

  13. For those of us who are not from US, it is a challenge to identify the states. I am sure you know that. Still I understand how you feel. We are grateful for the work you put in.

    1. No worries Sobana, I know that not everyone can guess them, I just thought that there would be more responses. When I did New Orleans for instance, there were many guesses for that one. Most were correct. 🙂

  14. The groundhogs are irresistible! Thank you for the free Sam as well…as always very generous of you! Am so loving these groundhogs…LOL

  15. Hope your healing is progressing well. These ground hogs are adorable. Thanks for Sam today.. Hmm I am going to guess that the next block is either New York or So. Carolina
