Creating Layouts In EQ8 With Photos

OUASRAL Layout Ideas-small

My first EQ8 tutorial since it came out and it’s longer than even I’d anticipated it was going to be. I really edited out a lot of stuff to get it to an hours length, so I do apologize that it’s lengthy, but you all know I try to give as much info as possible. I’m not one who makes tons of 2 minute videos so you can watch 50 different pages of videos on the same thing or in parts, I like to get it all in the same video, so my video lessons always tend to run long.

This lesson features Creating Custom Layouts in EQ using photos. What I did was download the pictures from the posts of the designers who participated in the row along. I then used those photos to create a layout with sashing. This video lesson takes you thru the entire process from creating the layout, to editing photos, adding photos to EQ, placing the rows, placing sashing, coloring, printing and adds bits and tips along the way. I am not as proficient in EQ8 as I am with EQ7, so there are a few burps, but tried to fix those in the editing of the video by adding text notes to the video.

The Purple People Eater… Art With Fabric Blog Hop…

Art With Fabric

Art With Fabric

So there I was, debating what to create for this blog hop, and the only thing on my mind was Halloween and what to do with that blog hop… My mind was on the Purple People Eater… not that I ever saw the movie that this saying was made famous in, but to me, a people eater is like a monster that is purple… Ya’ll know I love monsters, so there ya have it, as my mind considered the Purple People Eater, Halloween approached and my project got done, time to move on to Art With Fabric’s project… but I still couldn’t get the Purple People Eater off my mind. So, instead, I did Snowflakes… 🙂 Purple in fact.

When I signed up for this blog hop, Continue reading

I Love My Electric Quilt – 10 Tips For Using EQ

Electric Quilt

EQ Do You EQ BlogI’ve said it many times over, I love Electric Quilt. It is the most amazing software, they offer great support and when I really need them, they have always been their for me, including when I needed a replacement cd, because I didn’t have mine to reinstall EQ with. These are really great people that go well beyond what you’d expect for tech support, a helping and always friendly attitude and getting you so you feel comfortable using the software. They have been around now for 25 amazing years. Only the best softwares in the world can boast that kind of record.

I am my usual late self, for some reason, I just had it in my head that the 10th of the month was tomorrow, even said it on my post yesterday, and then last night Quiltshop Gal was sending me the rafflecopter code and letting us know she would not be online today.. Sadly, her site is down, so it’s just Tina and I today doing lessons for you.

Today, I have 10+ tips for using Electric Quilt that will make drawing just a little bit easier.. This is not a short video, it’s just right around 42 minutes long, but it is packed with tips and techniques that will make it well worth watching.

Using Photos To Create Layouts with Row Patterns In Electric Quilt

October EQ Lesson

October EQ LessonThis lesson is based on the lesson Heidi at Electric Quilt showed us last year. It’s based on the same lesson but is different because it uses photos of rows, with border stripes and panels to show you how to create a simulated layout of what your quilt may look like or the goal to achieve for finishing your quilt.

This lesson was created specifically for the Road Home Row Along, but also in conjunction with my lesson of the month for EQ’s 25th anniversary celebration. Other blogs participating are listed inside the post.

EQ September Lesson – The Triangle Trick – and a …

stbs-EQ The Triangle Trick

stbs-EQ The Triangle TrickIt’s that time of the month again when I present a new trick, tip, or tutorial to help celebrate Electric Quilts 25th Anniversary. It’s pretty amazing how fast this year has gone by.

This month’s lesson focuses on just a quick tip how you can find out a size you need to cut easily without drawing anything.

As a little note… I am looking for this fabric, would anyone have any they would let me purchase from them, or perhaps your LQS has some. I would like at least 3 yards, but I need about 1 1/2 to finish a current project I am working on. If it weren’t already in my project I would change it to something else, but I thought I had enough and it turns out I don’t have enough fabric.
