More New BOTMS, Wooly Block 2019, and other Events…

12 Days 2019

Coming October 1st is my all time favorite event for the year. Please don’t get me wrong, I love Block of the Months, Quilt Alongs, and other fun events that go on thru the year, but the one I’ll call a “temporary” event is the Wooly Block Adventure Event. Since I found out about the Wooly Block Adventure event in 2016, and was actually participating in it during our move back to the states that year I have thoroughly enjoyed this event. I got to do a bit of pay if forward with this event in 2016 when I visited shops to pick up kits for others and then ship the kits to them as they had been so kind as to send me Row by Row experience patterns and kits in 2015 and 2016.  In 2017, this event went to an online event. I was ecstatic. I knew at the same time we’d see a huge drop in shops that would participate because they are so against online stuff that they just refuse to participate. I’ve been told this by my own shops here in Colorado Springs. The following year in 2018, there was a large drop in shop participation, I was actually worried we wouldn’t see this event in 2019. Thank goodness, Janet must love this event as much as I love the row along each year because once again we have Wooly Block 2019. This year’s theme is Holiday Celebration and from the blocks they are now showing on the Facebook Wooly Block page, we are in for some absolutely gorgeous blocks.

How does this event work you might ask, Continue reading

Seams To Be Sew Presents 5 Years of Row Alongs…Day 01 – Once Upon A Story

Once Upon A Story Row Along

Once Upon A Story Row Along

Once Upon A Story is finally here and starting today and boy, do we have some great things in store for you to see. A new feature on this site and some wonderful designers and sponsors offering patterns and giveaways for you to enter. It promises to be a fun time for all involved and each day of the row along will bring new ideas, new techniques, tutorials, and ideas to stretch the creativity in you.

This years theme Once Upon A Story reflects on our childhood memories of moms or dads, grandparents, and even sitters or others who read us a good night story. Whether it was a FairyTale, or a Nursery Rhyme, we’ve heard these stories throughout our lives and have in some ways lived the dreams that fantasies create. We dedicate this Row Along to the authors of these original stories who left a lasting legacy for not only you, or me, but for everyone who has ever enjoyed a fable, a fairy tale, or a nursery rhyme. We all have our favorites and that’s where this theme goes. To our designers favorite nursery rhymes and fairy tales.

This year also marks FIVE wonderful years of Row Alongs. We started with EQ Seasons, and moved on to The Road Home, we then decided to touch on Christmas with the Christmas Caroling Row Along and last year, we chose to do My Happy Place. Each year, a theme is picked mainly based on what I hope you all will enjoy but at the same time what we all enjoy whether its a road trip, a favorite season, a Christmas carol or a hobby, and now fantasy.

This year has 2 new features, one to this site, and one to the actual row designs… read more inside on these changes.

So, your new to Rowing Along? Inside this post I’ll explain how it all works so you don’t miss a single thing. You’ll also find the EQ giveaway inside this post, so don’t forget to enter.

So let’s get started… Today, we feature

VaaaaRooommmm!!! Let’s Get Started For Day 01 of Once Upon A Time Row Along…

I am on this first day not because I have a row to share with you all… I do, but it will come later in the row along. Instead, my post today and the next few posts will be posts of fun and some frolicking… spending some time talking about the years as they’ve past, and we’re even gonna have a little bit of peek a boo… 🙂

I don’t just want my 5th year to row along like it normally does, I want to express some celebration. It’s not every day a blog can run an event for five years in a row and have the amount of fun we’ve had over the years, so I am going to enjoy this year with some memories, and some games to play… Maybe even a giveaway or two. So take a peek inside and walk along in the past with me.  Continue reading

Introducing The Sponsors For Once Upon A Story RAL…

Once Upon A Story Row Along

This is the one event each year where I try very hard to cover each blogger/designer with a giveaway from one of the wonderful companies I’ve been priveleged to work with over these last five years on my blog. Some of these companies have participated in every event I’ve offered, while others have participated in every row along. I’m always looking for new companies, but to be honest, I love working with companies whose products I do use. With that said, these are this year’s companies who are sponsoring wonderful giveaways for you to enjoy and use yourself even after the Once Upon A Story Row Along becomes part of history…

Special Thank You’s to Northcott Fabrics for providing up to a yard of fabric to each of the blogger/designers. They have done this every year of the row along with the exception of one and that’s only because I didn’t ask them to. However, they have provided a giveaway for every year of the row along.

Each companies giveaway is described in this post below, go have a look, I know you want to see the goodies coming to you when you enter the giveaways at each designers post on her featured day.

Nancy’s Christmas Collection…. A tale of Moving to…

This is a beautiful book of wonderful Christmas projects. When Nancy at Masterpiece Quilting invited me to participate in this Blog hop for her new book Masterpiece Quilting’s Christmas Collection, finding a project wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I could have chosen at least 5 of the projects in this book to feature on this hop. Alas, I had to narrow it down to just one. It was not easy, but in the end, I went with something that I’ve always loved and actually collect. I do not normally fall in love with books of Christmas projects simply because they are normally made up of basic blocks with simple fabrics. However, Nancy’s book fills you with joy just by looking thru the pages of it.

Nancy was kind enough to let me run late today, and I thank you for that Nancy.

In the midst of creating this project, we knew that we’d be moving, so I got on top of this right away, so unlike me of course, I tend to be someone who starts a project a week prior to a blog hop… It is not normal for me to start two months ahead of time unless I already was working on something in the first place. So, I went looking for Christmas fabrics, I wanted to use something new for this project to highlight this years Christmas Fabrics.  Fabrics I chose for my project are:

Diamonds Are Forever…

Be A Diamond

Be A Diamond

When I signed up for this blog hop it was in my mind to show off the baby blanket I had just finished for my new grand nephew who was born at the end of January. I spent each day working on this quilt for just a little bit of time over the last year or so, and all of the blocks were created entirely in my machine embroidery hoop. Sadly, when I went to take the pictures off the camera today something has happened to the flash card and every file on the card seems to be corrupted… I have most of them on my hard drive thankfully but not the most recent pictures I took so I have no picture of the blanket at the moment. Since the blanket was only shipped yesterday she doesn’t even have it yet to retake a new picture for me, but to me, I want to figure out why the flash card went bad… It’s not that I didn’t know they’d eventually go bad I just don’t know what I did to make that happen and that bothers me the most… Anyway, I can show you a sample as I did take a new picture of the sample block I made and I have other projects I’ve made in the past that do include diamonds…

First a thank you to Carol, who kindly moved me to today when I had an emergency fall on Sunday afternoon and ended up with an overnight stay in the hospital. I’m still quite sore and my headache comes and goes but overall everything else is good. Continue reading
