Oh Holy Night BOTW – Weeks 5 and 6 Now Online…

2015 Nativity

The angel, star, and cows have been released this week. I appreciate that ya’ll allowed me the extra time to get these out to you. I know it’s got to be frustrating to be waiting for them. EQ Seasons has just totally taken my time tho and having to recreate all the pictures is just been very time consuming. So I’m releasing these patterns today as just that, patterns, no tutorial or anything to go with them.

I will note I will do the tutorial later during the release of other blocks.

Over At Elm Street Quilts….

Elm Street Quilts

Over At Elm Street Quilts, Patty has started what looks to be a fun Quilt Along that she is simply calling Harvest QAL.

It looks so much fun and I so wish I had the time for it, but alas, I’m swamped for a bit..

I thought I’d tell you about it tho, it looks really fun and if your looking for something that looks quick to put together and easy to piece, this looks like an adorable Fall project that will surely make your wall a happy camper.

Go On over to Elm Street Quilts and see what Patty does next..

EQ Seasons – Schedule and Participants

EQ Seasons Row Along

EQ Seasons Row AlongI can hardly believe we are less than a week away for the start of EQ Seasons Row-A-Long.

It has come to fast for me.

As summer starts to pass us by and fall enters the picture, it seems like a perfect time to start a new project.

Today I’m going to list the participants week by week for you, thus we’ll have an official schedule of each bloggers featured day.

Each season of this Row Along is represented each week. Each blogger will offer her row pattern in a pdf file for free during the period in which the Row Along runs. Whether they leave it free or not is up to them after the Row Along ends. Some bloggers will also offer .pj7 files for Electric Quilt. I recommend if you have an opportunity, download both the pdf and the pj7, if you open the pattern in EQ at some point you’ll also have the pdf to help you with the instructions.

Each blogger will also offer various giveaways that are specific to their site, but also will be the same for the other blogs. My posts each week will note which giveaways are site specific, and which are giveaways in which all blogs offer the same giveaway.

Their is no need to sign up, just come and visit on each Tuesday in September, and the first and second Tuesdays in October.  All giveaways will end by October 13, 2015 and winners announced within 48 hours of final deadline.

If you are creating blocks and rows for your own row quilt from the patterns for EQ Seasons RAL, please consider joining the Flickr and Facebook Support Group. There are drawings for giveaways when you upload your blocks and/or rows to the Flickr Group.

Oh Holy Night – Week 2

Oh Holy Night Week 2

2015-stbs-2 half backgrounds 2015-stbs-2 half backgrounds-RrLandscapes are one of my most favorite quilt types. However, I had never made one until I started this Block Of The Week. The artwork itself for the nativity parts do not include a landscaping scene, but in order to place nativity shapes I really felt a landscape was necessary. I didn’t just want to place them in blocks and call it a day. So, while this lesson is what I would call time consuming, it is pretty easy to do. I mentioned last week the sources that could be used for creating your own landscape. This lesson is totally optional and you are free to go whatever route you wish to add your shapes to a quilt or wallhanging. This lesson is image heavy, with approximately 90 images, their is alot to show you in how to do this part of the wallhanging. Two pdf files are included in this lesson to download with, that give you exact shapes like the above images, however, I’m going to show you how to create your own with this lesson. Continue reading

Flags On A Stick – Who’d a thunk it!!

Flags On A StickWho’d have thought you could take this cool little fabric called Laminate and make a flag out of it, let alone buy a special ornament for your yard to display it in. I suppose with all the Christmas decorations or other holiday decorations that it was probably inevitable that someone would come up with the idea to decorate your lawn. Now, let me explain, I did not purchase the flag stand that goes in the ground. The reasons being that the Flags On A Stick’s website could not seem to let me get through the cart, and I gather that’s because I have a FPO address, which is a post office box located on the military base that we live on. It didn’t matter what frame I added to my cart, it would not let me check out. When I wrote them, they didn’t seem to know how to fix the problem, so, like any thoughtful customer, I went elsewhere and purchased my stand. It happens sometimes, even at Amazon, it won’t ship some things overseas, so it’s just something I’ve grown to know over the years. I did find a stand in the image to your left that you see at Garden House Flags. I really like it. There are also regulations for living in military housing such as no planting of flowers, trees, plants, or even a garden, so placing a flag stand in the ground would definitely be out as well. Perhaps that’s just here in Sicily, I don’t really know, but I like living in normal housing, so I couldn’t have put a stand in the ground anyway. Continue reading
