Hi Everyone, I’m so happy you liked the Unicorn pattern yesterday. I liked the whole series and it was really difficult to decide which of the patterns to offer as a free pattern, but I went with the Unicorn because I’ve never created a unicorn pattern before and thought you might like the change, thus the reason. prior to that, it was going to be the doggy, but at the last moment, I went with the unicorn.
To those of you who took the time to comment, THANK YOU!!! Hearing your thoughts and such is so nice. Please know that I answer questions and such that are commented on via email because I want you to see a response quickly. If you asked a question, please look for my yahoo.com email with the same title as the post in it. Check your spam folders also. I answer as quickly as possible. I answered several questions yesterday but received no reply on whether the issue was resolved.
Today’s pattern is the snowman pattern I mentioned yesterday. I hope you enjoy this cute pattern.
This is the event that I look forward to each year all year long. Yes, I love the row along, but 12 Days is an event that I do by myself on my own blog each year. No one else is involved. Like the Row Along this year, this is my 5th year of doing this 12 Days event. Each year it always starts on a different date, but I try to get it started near the first of December. It just happens that the first was on a Sunday this year and I do not like to post on weekends as most of you already know. I only do it when I feel it’s necessary, but rarely ever on a Sunday.
Many of you have been with me these last 5 years so you already know how this event works. However, if your new to my blog and this event, while I try to keep rules and guidelines to a minimum, there, unfortunately, has to be some. Please see the bottom of this post for those guidelines. The biggest one is All Downloads expire within 24 hours or the next post-release each day.
While I’m later than I wanted to be this morning, I needed to fix some issues on my blog. I’ve been trying to find a problem that I’m having with images currently with uploading them. This has been very annoying of late and I realized I really needed to fix it before I started this event today. So I spent the better part of the night trying to figure out which plugin was causing my issues. It is better right now, but the problem is not totally resolved, unfortunately.
Patterns this year include some pieced blocks, some continuous line blocks, mostly applique, and of course my traditional nativity, and snowman block.
Now, to the first free pattern of this event. This is part of a set of patterns, cute little toppers that give you a face, but the background of the face is the same as the background you choose for your block. It’s quite fun to play with the colors for this and you can net some amazing results from them. Continue reading
I was hoping to get this posted yesterday, but I forgot that it was my day at the doctor’s. Sometimes it’s just in and out and other times it’s half the day. Yesterday was one of those half the day kind of things. I’d had an infection in both my feet for the last few weeks, so she couldn’t do her normal thing four weeks ago when I was last in, Two weeks ago it was canceled due to a snowstorm in the area. My doctor drives in from Denver to treat people on Wednesdays each week. So I am sorry it didn’t get posted yesterday, but here I am today with Florida being released.
Sam is the free pattern for Florida.
Let’s get to the download…
I am so dumb, last night I finished my post, and went to bed… leaving it on “draft” .. not published, but thinking I had published it for this morning. So here I am, all my dorkiness in tow…
I’ve made for this hop a simple project, nothing big or fancy, but something I haven’t done before.
I absolutely love novelty prints tho. Next to blenders they are my favorite print to work with. Even tho I don’t do it that often. Normally when I work with novelty prints, I either fussy cut the area I want or I create an entire project out of the fabric something like a bag or placemat. Back in the 90s, when novelty prints started becoming more popular in quilt shops, I went crazy buying as many as I could. Prior to that time, novelty prints carried little interest for me as I didn’t just want to see a pumpkin on a low-quality print and most of the novelty prints I remember back then were sold in fabric shops and were low enough quality that you could see right thru the fabric.
In the quilt below, which I’ve shown several times on this blog It is entirely created with novelty prints. Only the black square is repeated. Every single novelty print in this quilt was an individual piece I purchased.
It’s not even an oops, I forgot… I blundered and put the wrong bags on the living room couch for my hubby to take to work. I have to tell you the whole story for you to understand why I goofed up so badly. You see, when we lived in Italy, and I learned about the row by row experience, I was lucky enough to have several people send me some row patterns back in 2015. By that time, I was teaching Sarah how to sew, and had created a group of moms who also lived on and around the base who liked to sew. We’d meet at various houses once a week. It was one of the few times that I actually got out and about. It was an experience I’ve always treasured. With those rows, those moms and I would create table runners and then give them to the gift shop on the base. It was pretty cool as people who made crafty type items could sell there stuff in the shop and the shop took a small commission. We had decided as a group that the table runners money would go to the school library because it was continuously low on supplies for the kids. I learned this when I wanted to get rid of some glue sticks I ordered on Amazon and they were the wrong ones, so I offered them to anyone who wanted them for free, and the school librarian contacted me. Thus… when I left, I left the patterns with the woman so they could continue to carry on the tradition we had already created. To this day, I still send row by row patterns that I collect.
Each day a new treat comes along with each day of the Row Along. Today will be no different.
We get see 3 more designers today who are featuring there designs in rows. It is fun to read all your comments and I read each one of them even tho I don’t always get them replied to, please know I do read them, and it is so much fun when you see something on someone else’s blog and let me know what you thought. I get such a kick out of that. I hope you’ll continue doing so.

Even tho I have seen the rows each designer has done, I saw them back in June in there drafts. I haven’t seen the finished patterns since that time, so each day for me is also as new for you as it is for me. I love seeing how the fabrics worked out in there row pattern and reading about how they chose the design they did.
