Today is my day on this very fun blog hop which Carla from Creatin In The Sticks has hosted. It’s been full of fun and creative ideas and I have been awed and inspired these last few days with all the great projects that have been shown from the other bloggers. Thus the reason I love blog hops, we are each all so different, loving the same hobby, but we come together all wanting to do that person’s projects once you see it live. I love that about blogging and quilting.
I have created my own project for this hop, having made tons of these while we lived overseas. It was so easy for me to join this hop and create these pumpkins I could have made hundreds, to be honest. They are fun, easy and a quick project to boot… Tiny, but so fun… and so many cool things can be done with them. They also make a fun gift for someone who loves to decorate for fall, Thanksgiving, Halloween.. etc… I’ve made this up into a pattern and have a giveaway inside for those of you who might like to have the pattern.
Oh Boy, I have been waiting and waiting for this day to arrive on this really fun blog hop that Carla at Creatin In the Sticks has offered up for you in April 2018. It is a huge task to coordinate an event on the web and this one is no different. We were each given a choice of the block we wanted to do, and I chose block 20. I thought, this is so simple, I can whip this out in no time at all… and… to some degree I did… but let me tell you all about it.
First, I had to come up with something I like, now I didn’t care for the butting up of the same block over and over again with this block, it’s just not in me to want to see the same block over and over with what I’m going to say no real design to it. It’s just a bunch of squares if you want me to be honest… Don’t get me wrong, I love doing easy quilts, squares are as easy as it gets when you want to make a quilt. I decided right off the bat I was going to find another block to go with it to get more of a design. I played with several…
This is block 20…
I’ve talked about this project for weeks now… and while it’s not quite finished or as finished as I’d like, I have enough done that you can at least see it and see the layout and such.
This project stems from my time on Genie Online Services back in the 1990s. This quilt has traveled with us from Virginia where my time on Genie was, to Arkansas, Texas, California, Germany, Italy and now resides in Colorado with us. I attempted to start putting this together while we were in Germany, but I quickly realized that while I had good intentions I didn’t have all the necessary supplies I needed to finish this quilt… Mainly rulers.
This quilt was created in all by 25 people on Genie, Continue reading
This is a fun week with lots of surprises coming… Not just for this blog, but for the Small, Smaller, Smallest Blog Hop, which is starting today over at Just Let Me Quilt. My friend Carol has started doing hops this year and I couldn’t be happier. Blog Hops are how my blog got started, at the time I had been thinking about changing my domain from a web developer domain into a blog. We had just moved to a new home in Italy, and I decided it was time to get back into quilting. Next month, that will be five years ago that I started this blog. It is hard to believe that I’ve kept on doing this for all these years… each year has just been more fun than the previous year.
This week I will also release the cupcake of the month, a few new patterns, two new tutorials, and my day for the hop is Thursday. I’m quite excited about this project because it has been totally designed as a project by me. So I am patiently waiting for my day to arrive on the hop.
Here is the schedule for the hop this week… Continue reading
Yesterday, I told you about the wedding we attended this past weekend. It was simple and elegant and quite fun. It’s always nice to see family and even tho I only saw them in December with my niece’s wedding, we didn’t get much time to really spend it together as things were much busier and hectic during that wedding.
Part of my gift for this wedding is part of the projects I created for this blog hop. We always give money for gifts, but being a quilter, everyone knows I am going to make something, so it’s somewhat expected that they will receive something I’ve made. You might ask how I know this… When I was accepting the invitation to the bridal luncheon in December, the person who wrote me back said, awww your the quilter, aren’t you. LOL, talk about a dead giveaway… LOL Someone’s been talking about me.
For the last few weeks, the 2017 Island Batik Ambassadors for 2017 have been doing a blog hop with the theme of the Four Seasons, featuring fabrics that are coming out in the quilt shops over the next few months.
Today I am doing a project with a Fall Theme in mind, the line I am showing is called the Pumpkin Patch collection. I love love love the fabrics in this collection.
These are the beautiful fabrics in the Pumpkin Patch Collection.
Here we are on Day 02 of Enter If U Dare… Wasn’t the first day a great day for the hop. I was inspired by the wonderful creativity of the bloggers and I’m definitely looking forward to today.
Today there are four blogs featured to visit and I’m sure we’ll see more wonderful fun projects.
