When You Wish Upon A Star, You May Get A Hero…

Wish Upon A Star Blog Hop

Today I am participating in the Wish Upon A Star blog hop hosted by Carol at Just Let Me Quilt.

Her fun idea says our project needs to include a star somewhere in the project.

With this hop, I thought about what I could do carefully, and when you see it, hopefully, you’ll agree, it’d be great for Memorial Day, Father’s Day or even the 4th of July…

I’ll be releasing the pattern tomorrow morning along with another cute little pattern I’ve done for the 4th of July. In the meantime, enjoy my project for today.

I’m just going to get to the nitty and the gritty. I did this both on my embroidery machine and on my sewing machine. My lettering is a little bit too big for the embroidery machine, but I am happy with how it turned out either way.

I used Island Batiks in this project and while I know the purple is probably a little to Oddish, I was trying to stay away from black… but now realize I should have just gone with the black background.

The artwork for this project is from Too Cute SVGs.

I will be releasing these two patterns probably tomorrow morning. I will post about them tomorrow along with a tutorial from Electric Quilt.

I’ll be giving away 5 of the My Hero Patterns.

Giveaway ends Sunday, May 27, at 11:59pm

  1. My #2 son was in the Army and is very patriotic. I would love to win your “My Hero” pattern so that I can make something for him. Thanks for the chance! 😎

  2. I ;love your blog and the Block of the Month patterns you have been doing for the night before christmas. Love your blogpost about stars and heros”:)

  3. You are absolutely right … they are wonderful ideas for both memorial day and fathers day! Terrific work as always and thank you for sharing 🙂

  4. I really love that on the purple. I think black would have been too dark, and you chose a great color for it. It’s the cutest patriotic block I’ve seen in a while! Thanks for the giveaway chance.

  5. These are so cute! Being married to a former military man, I love anything that brings good attention to our men and women of service! These go right along with that! Wonderful job! These can be used in so many different areas! Thank you!

  6. As a purple lover, I think the purple background looks great! Stars are so often a perfect complement to a quilting project and this proves true here! Great pattern!

  7. I don’t know…I must be odd too, cause I love the purple background! LOL! Nice design to remember those who keep us safe!

  8. This block has great versatility. Of course, it’s appropriate for a Quilt of Valor. My first thought with the adorable little one was for my granddaughter. She is four and graduated from Pre-K yesterday. My son has full custody of her. They lived with me for two years and have moved to another state about t2o and one half hours away. Now she has a new lady in her life – she calls her Jackie – nothing to do with Mom. She has a mom even though she has no communication with her at all. She is trying to acclimate two two “step” sisters who are 11 and 17. Now my son is trying to get full custody of his 12 year old son who is living with them. This would be a perfect block for her, too. She’s alrady endured much for an innocent four year old. THanks for the inspiration.

  9. These are so cute Marian. I think these would be awesome to give to a veteran. Thank you for sharing and for your giveaway.

  10. Those are adorable star filled blocks, Marian…I love them both! You did such a good job with those sweet blocks and it’s always a treat to see what you create. Thank you for taking a starring role in the hop today! You made my world a lot brighter today.
