Today is the start of one of my most favorite events on the web today. The Wooly Block Adventure. Ever since I discovered the wonderfulness in working with wool, this is the one event I look forward to all year. I wish it was bigger, that every shop participated, but it’s a small event with 69 shops participating this year.
How Wooly Block works… Every two days, two to three new patterns will appear on the wooly block page at the Row By Row Experience website. These patterns are FREE for you to download. They will mostly be in .pdf format, but you will find some in an image format. Most of the time you will be clicking on the Featured Shops website to download your pattern at. You can also purchase kits here.
Part of this experience can be a lesson in patience. Please remember that not all quilt shops are familiar with how to do something online especially creating a download from there own websites. Some shops will make these patterns easy to find and easy to download, others will make you go thru a cart, others will just want you to click on an image and the image will then need to be saved to your computer via the right click save option from your browser.
Also, there will be glitches, you can count on that, sometimes a pattern won’t get up in time, so you have to check back. They are pretty strict about getting those patterns online every two days, so if you miss a pattern you have missed the pattern. You’ll have to buy it. In an extreme case last year, they added an extra day to one shop because the shop was using a host that didn’t allow the sheer amount of bandwidth used on one day, but this is the only case I can remember where one pattern was held over. There was another case such as that also, and the owner had you send her an email, she sent the patterns via email. If you have problems downloading write the shop or consult the Facebook page for Wooly Block or the Facebook Group for Wooly Block.
With this event, you can also purchase the kit from the shops. They can ship them to you right now, there is no waiting other than for the mailman to show up. Watch out tho, I found shipping to be a bit on the expensive side last year, so be wary. You may be better off if you have a friend who can ship a kit to you or find someone in the Facebook groups for swapping kits who may be able to send your kits to you.
Not all shops have posted a pattern image yet, but below is a small sampling of the coming patterns…
Shops are listed in Alphabetical Order by Shop Name.
I’m only showing the shops that have given images to see the patterns. If the 69 shop number is correct, I am missing about 12 images. Clicking the images will take you to there website. All but a few of these shops have actual store websites, in this case, I’ve linked to there Facebook pages. When this happens, you will usually find the download right on the Wooly Block page where you will find the patterns to download every two days.
I’ve kept this page updated over the course of the event. When you hover over the images it shows the date the pattern was featured. The images that don’t have a picture mean that the shop hasn’t been featured yet. Since today is the last day of the event, there are two shops that haven’t been featured. I’ll update these also with a post if they do so you have a chance to get them also.
Wooly Block Pattern Download Page
Keep in mind this is normally linked to the shop’s site where you’ll find the downloads. Only when a shop doesn’t have a site will you actually download on this page.
Important To Remember
You Have Two Days To Download The Patterns
if a shop is late getting there pattern up, Check Back!!
Every Two Days 2-3 new shops will be
featured so you do have to check back.
If your not on Facebook, and want to check for problems, visit the FB page for Wooly block, the posts should all be public and you should be able to see if others are having download issues.
The schedule for Peek A Who will be sent this evening.
Every second I have is spent working on TTNBC Blocks 15 and 16… I lost part of the patterns somehow and have had to redo them.
Flickr Rewards for Sue/Sam will get done this week also.
Cupcake OTM will most likely be released Wednesday.
I am in no way affiliated with the Row By Row Experience or the Wooly Block Adventure. I’m just a fan of these events as I love the idea that we get to support our local shops. The logo for Wooly Block has been approved for use on this blog by Janet Lutz founder of the Row By Row Experience.
I am an affiliate of the above companies when you click one of these links and purchase something, I earn a little bit of a commission with it. I use this money to help maintain my website and offer my free patterns to you. Every little bit helps, thank you so much for clicking and for your support. I don’t just offer up these brands to you I actually use their products and shop at these places. I would never partner with someone whose products I didn’t use.
Please remember it takes 2 minutes to comment, please say Thank You, whether you downloaded a free pattern, read a tutorial, or just learned something new. It takes time for people to write a post, take pictures, make a project or even write a pattern.
Let them know you appreciate it.
If your comment doesn’t show up after you post it, it’s most likely gone to the spam folder. I will see it and approve it, unfortunately, it just means something about your email address caught my spam filter’s eye.
