If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you might visit on a semi-regular basis. A huge Thank You for that. I appreciate all of you.
As you know we are about three weeks now before the row along starts and lots of things are happening behind the scenes here at Seams To Be Sew. Over the last few days, I have mainly been working on my blog to bring you a special treat come the start of the row along. After all, it’s 5 years of row alongs in the making and quite frankly I thought it might be fun to do something a little special for it.
I’ll be posting soon also about the great giveaways our sponsors for Once Upon A Story are giving away during the 5 year Row Along celebration, there are some wonderful prizes coming your way. I know many of you are looking forward to the row along this year.
I will also be posting all the designers who are participating this year in the coming weeks.
This is a beautiful book of wonderful Christmas projects. When Nancy at Masterpiece Quilting invited me to participate in this Blog hop for her new book Masterpiece Quilting’s Christmas Collection, finding a project wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I could have chosen at least 5 of the projects in this book to feature on this hop. Alas, I had to narrow it down to just one. It was not easy, but in the end, I went with something that I’ve always loved and actually collect. I do not normally fall in love with books of Christmas projects simply because they are normally made up of basic blocks with simple fabrics. However, Nancy’s book fills you with joy just by looking thru the pages of it.
Nancy was kind enough to let me run late today, and I thank you for that Nancy.
In the midst of creating this project, we knew that we’d be moving, so I got on top of this right away, so unlike me of course, I tend to be someone who starts a project a week prior to a blog hop… It is not normal for me to start two months ahead of time unless I already was working on something in the first place. So, I went looking for Christmas fabrics, I wanted to use something new for this project to highlight this years Christmas Fabrics. Fabrics I chose for my project are:
Hi Everyone, I’ve added a few new block of the months going on around the web to my 2019 list. I thought you might like to know about them, so really quickly, here they are..
I definitely have my favorite block of the months I look foward to each year and so I was happy to see that Buttermilk Basin and Morning Glory‘s botms had started. You might have missed block 1 from Buttermilk Basin, but block 2 is up and if you like working with wool (you can do them in cotton also) you will want to get to their site and get block 2 downloaded.
Reeze always does her main block for each month and then throws in a bonus block, so be sure you are on her newsletter so you get the coupon code for the bonus block.
The cute Gingerbread Village BOTM from Days filled with Joy is just getting started and is an absolutely adorable embroidery BOTM.
And… At Little Rabbit Quilt Co, Rosie is starting a new BOTM on March 01, if you visit her blog you can already tell this is a BOTM you won’t want to miss as she has some very cute patterns. I’m just getting to know Rosie as she has signed up to do the Row Along this year but I can tell she’s gonna be a great friend already.
These BOTMs are also Continue reading
Unfortunately, today I just don’t have a post, with not having the ability to go upstairs and sew I didn’t finish my project. Its all cut-out and ready to sew, but that’s as far as it got.
Yesterday was reallllllly bad day for us, while I can at least walk now, I can’t get quite make it up the stairs, but I’m so happy, I see it coming at least. But that’s not the bad news… Hail hit Colorado Springs today and our basement got flooded by a broken window that blew out. You remember that basement if you read the post here where I showed all the fabric stored downstairs. Now I remember why that investment in those bins seemed pretty darn expensive at the time, but so worth it in the end. My post is late getting posted because we spent the night starting to move everything into the garage. They can’t take and start working on getting the water out of the carpet until we move everything out of the basement…
I do have a giveaway today, so be sure you pop inside and read the rest of the post…
It’s a wonderful time of year. July is a good reminder for us all that we should get started on our Christmas sewing and quilting if you haven’t already.
When I was single, I always waited to buy Christmas gifts till just right before Christmas, when I got married, I bought all year long, and now, I feel lucky if I get everyone covered, I’m really good at gift certificates now.
This year tho, I am determined to create all my Christmas gifts for everyone. I have a new grand nephew/niece due next February and I am very excited about being a Grand Auntie. I can’t wait to make his/her first quilt for her.
I was supposed to participate on Wednesday with this hop, but my day got shifted thankfully by the good people participating. I’d like to thank all of you who volunteered to switch days with me.
Stranger things have happened uploading patterns when I’ve added patterns at Craftsy before. Tonight I was uploading blocks 13 and 14 and when I finished I couldn’t find where block 13 was. It shows up as a pattern in my own account’s pattern page, but it isn’t showing up in the quilt store for my profile or on the quilting page. So I’m not sure what’s happening in that respect. You can add it to your cart, but you can’t check out even. So I’ve also added them to Payhip for you tonight so that if your in a hurry to get started you can go ahead and purchase them. Please remember Payhip does cost a little bit more for patterns because I have two commissions that get paid from Payhip, one to Paypal, and one to Payhip.
Here are the links for this months blocks…
We are into day 03 with just two more days to go of Quilt Qwazy Queens. If your going to comment today, tell me what you did for Worldwide Quilting Day? Did you visit your local quilt shop? Make something special? Start a new project? me? I sewed all day taking a few breaks for email and checking Facebook and then back to my machine I went… With this in mind, we’ve seen lots of great projects so far, even some of those wonderful UFOs that baffles every quilter, even if your a quilter who finishes everything, you might still save scraps, or small test blocks, all of of which can be used to start new projects that may end up in the UFO bin.
I have enjoyed seeing how you store some of your UFOs, as well as reading the ideas of what you can do with them as you finish them. I liked the idea of finishing the tops to have them ready to be quilted for those last minute gifts we all run into at times. I need to get on top of that. 🙂
I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store today from our bloggers… Here’s the schedule…
